Preparation of clinical reports for molecular diagnostic tests
Preparation of clinical reports for molecular diagnostic tests
Some of laboratory results for molecular diagnostic tests contain mainly raw data and do not indicate the clinical relevance of the tests. These results need to be processed and the clinical significance of the findings should be added to generate a report that can be used by the ordering clinicians. This process is called tertiary analysis for next generation sequencing (NGS) tests. Avicenna helps the clients to prepare a report that is easy to understand and contains clinical utility of the test results. These reports are prepared by several validated bioinformatic pipeline/algorithms based on guidelines and recommendations provided by the professional organizations and the latest scientific findings. The pipeline algorithms are regularly updated, and the reports can be customized based on the laboratory preferences. Report preparation can be done for all pathogens and NGS molecular diagnostics tests, however, the most common tests that need clinical reports are pharmacogenetics (PGX), urinary tract infection (UTI) and NGS panels, (particularly cardiac and hereditary cancer NGS panels).
